What is the Degrowth Summer School?​

The Degrowth Summer School, initiated in 2014, has been a platform that brings together academics, practitioners, artists, activists, community organisers, and concerned citizens to collectively delve into discussions and learning experiences related to degrowth and environmental justice. Organised by Research & Degrowth International (R&Di), the school traditionally spanned two weeks.

Research & Degrowth International, a think-and-act-tank dedicated to the radical transformation of our economies and societies through research, advocacy, education, training and events around degrowth.

Eligibility and Application

How do I determine which fee to choose?​

Please refer to the bottles on our application page. Find the bottle which best describes your life circumstances, and respond to the questions independently to assess where you stand withing the corresponding range. Please opt for the solidarity fee if you have sufficient funds and/or external funding.

The payment will be done via bank transfer. Once we have the final list of selected participants we will send the details to effectuate the payment.

For the 2026 edition we have substituted the flat fee & scholarships with a sliding scale system. The sliding scale goes as low as 0, allowing all participants to contribute within their means. We have provided a bottle system to guide applicants in their choice of fee. 

Is accommodation provided in Barcelona?​

No, accommodation is not provided. However, we will furnish a list of affordable options. Moreover, we will share in due time a telegram group for participants to coordinate accommodation sharing.

A list of mandatory readings will be shared in advance with the selected participants.

Yes, upon completion, a certificate of attendance will be issued.

Main communication language is English, but Catalan and Spanish would be an asset
