Brototi Roy

 

Brototi Roy is a postdoctoral researcher based at ICTA-UAB. Her research engages with socio-ecological justice and equity, with a focus on India and energy. She is also the president of Research & Degrowth International (R&D) and co-founder of the Degrowth India Initiative.

Borja Nogué Algueró

An environmental social scientist in Girona, Borja actively researches marine sustainability in the Mediterranean, analyzing blue economy narratives and promoting the concept of Blue Degrowth with colleagues.

Giorgos Kallis

Political ecologist, and ecological economist, specializing in environmental justice and limits to growth. His latest book, ‘Limits: Why Malthus Was Wrong and Why Environmentalists Should Care, was published by Stanford University Press in 2019.

Jason Hickel

An anthropologist and professor at ICTA-UAB, Hickel’s research and writing focus on economic anthropology and development, and is particularly opposed to capitalism, neocolonialism, and economic growth as a model of human development. His most recent book is Less Is More: How Degrowth Will Save the World (2020).

Lorenzo Velotti

Lorenzo Velotti is a sociologist and anthropologist currently finishing his PhD at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at the Scuola Normale Superiore, where he is a member of the Centre on Social Movement Studies (COSMOS). He is also a member of Research & Degrowth. He is interested in commons, social movements, care, class, and degrowth. Lorenzo holds a MSc with Distinction in Anthropology and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Lucia Muñoz-Sueiro

A sociocultural anthropologist, Lucía investigates collective experiences in addressing the Iberian territory’s socio-ecological crisis. With two Masters degrees from Columbia University and The New School, she pursues a PhD at ICTA-UAB on traditional popular culture and degrowth, while also contributing to educational routes and being a member of Research & Degrowth.

Marta Conde

A Marie Curie Fellow at ICTA, Autonomous University of Barcelona, and CSRM, University of Queensland. Her research looks at social reactions to the expansion of extractive industries. Using political ecology, ecological economics, political economy and environmental justice, she analyses the drivers, strategies and discourses of resistance movements to mining.

Marula Tsagari

A political ecologist from Athens, Greece, Marula currently serves as a Margarita Salas postdoctoral researcher at ICTA-UAB. Her research focuses on energy communities, self-sufficiency, technology, and values. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Barcelona. She conducted her postdoctoral research at TU-Delft in 2022-2023.
