Regarding the static week in Barcelona
Is accommodation provided in Barcelona?
No, accommodation is not provided. However, we will furnish a list of affordable options. Moreover, we will share in due time a telegram group for participants to coordinate accommodation sharing.
Is a certificate of attendance provided?
Yes, upon completion, a certificate of attendance will be issued.
Are scholarships available?
Yes, at least one scholarship opportunity will be offered.
How do I determine which fee to choose?
We trust your judgement in selecting the appropriate fee. Opt for the solidarity fee if you have sufficient funds and/or external funding. Reduced fee options are limited and intended for those genuinely in need. If you choose the reduced fee, you will be prompted to provide a brief justification.
Will I need to prepare anything in advance?
A list of mandatory readings will be shared in advance with the selected participants.
How do I effectuate the payment?
The payment will be done via bank transfer. Once we have the final list of selected participants we will send the details to effectuate the payment.
Regarding the bike caravan in Galicia
Can I apply solely for the bike Caravan?
No, if spots remain available, a separate application round will open exclusively for the caravan. Priority is given to applicants applying for both.
What is the level of Spanish required?
During the bike caravan, we will visit villages, projects, and sites where talks and workshops will be conducted exclusively in Spanish. Understanding the language well, including the ability to hold basic conversations, is essential to fully engage with the experience.
Are food and accommodation provided during the bike caravan in Galicia?
Yes, accommodation and three vegan meals per day are provided. Please note that sleeping arrangements will mainly involve camping spots, fields, or civic centres. Therefore, participants are required to bring their own camping equipment (e.g. sleeping bag, mat, tent). If you have difficulties acquiring any of these items please let us know, and we will try to help you out.
What is the difficulty level of the route, and what level of physical fitness is required?
The route is designed to be accessible to participants of varying physical fitness levels. Each day, we will cover approximately 20-35 kilometres, with ample rest breaks included. While some sections may involve uneven terrain or changes in elevation, the overall difficulty is manageable for individuals with a moderate level of physical fitness.
What are the options for bike arrangements?
Participants can either:
Send their own bike via postal service, which costs 40€ within Spain or around 80€ from other EU countries.
or
Rent a bike in Ourense (around 20-35€ per day; we are looking for the best collective deal), for which we will provide assistance.
Please note that participants are responsible for covering the expenses related to bike arrangements.
What do I need to prepare for the bike caravan?
Possible essential items include: ID/Passport, sleeping bag and mat, tent, first aid kit… Once participants are selected, we will send a more comprehensive list of things that can be useful to have during the bike caravan.
